Home Project Progress

My original plan for my home project involved doing a series of detailed hand studies in oil to practice my technique and think more about my intentions for my future work. In my first in-class project critique, Coach Hall suggested potentially emphasizing the theme of control using lines to connect the hand to the figure, an idea which I may carry over to my home project. With my three small canvasses, I think I will continue with the hand studies on each, but connect the three using bold, contrasting lines to create an interwoven effect. So far, I've only had time to take some reference photos (below), which I will sketch out soon.
