On February 5th, I went to Matthew Bond's senior art talk. Having seen him develop his newer work with chameleons throughout the year, it was exciting to see how he progressed from making comics and where his newest work with tessellations might lead.

It was gratifying to hear about his struggles with finding a sold path in art and how he had to be convinced to actually dive into comic-making, as I've struggled and changed my own path this year. I love the simple yet impactful message of his newer works involving going against the grain and feeling out of place.
I had never considered how difficult it is to contrive humor, making his previous explorations of humor (which still carries into his newer work), which he described as coming about as random ideas from his daily life, all the more impressive. I would like to be able to incorporate some humor and/or irony into my work in the future!
